Beautiful Noise – The Movie

Over the last few weeks, my original song “Sorry” has gone from a featured song during local artists blocks on radio to being in regular rotation on several radio stations across Tennessee. Thanks everyone who has supported me by requesting my songs. It’s awesome to perform live and see people singing along and a whole new thing to hear my songs randomly played between Katy Perry and The Script! Please request your local radio stations play “Sorry” (or any of my songs)!!

The filming schedule for “Beautiful Noise” (the musical drama I’m making my acting debut in) has been narrowed down and we’ll be shooting in Sarasota mid August through mid September. This means some of my shows will  be re-scheduled.  The venues have been more than understanding though and we are also working on lining up some shows to play while in Florida. Looking forward to meeting some great new people and playing some new venues!

Several of my original songs are featured in the film, some performed by me and some by others. Doug Frasure and I are just finishing up a song written specifically for “Beautiful Noise” called “One More Song in Me”.

August 26 is the evening of “Hot August Nights”, an 8:00 concert featuring the musical cast of “Beautiful Noise” at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium. Please go to www.beautifulnoisethemovie.com to get tickets or learn more about the event and the amazing talent featured. I’m blown away by the artists and performers in this film including Chester See, Chris McCarty, Danielle White,
Jay White (the top Neil Diamond impersonator in the country!) and Tim Jerome…on and on… You can also read Steve Tatone’s director’s blog there. It’s awesome to be part of such a wonderful project.

I’ll take a break from filming in Sarasota to be at the Knoxville, TN premiere on September 3rd of “Beyond The Myth: A Film About Pit Bulls And Breed Discrimination”. I WOULD NOT MISS IT!!! If you’re any place close by, please make plans to attend and come to the after party. Remember to download my song “Strong For You” at www.beyondthemythmovie.com to help support the film. You can also get the details about the premiere and after party at that web-site!!!

Thanks so much for visiting me…there is more to update…will save it for next time…

Miami, this Saturday, June 12th…the Premiere of BEYOND THE MYTH:  A Film About Pit Bulls And Breed Discrimination at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach…that’s where I’ll be. Can’t wait!! If you don’t know what the hype is all about yet, please visit www.beyondthemythmovie.com Download my song, “Strong For You” there - which I wrote for the film and recorded at Red Dragon Studios in Nashville (produced by Doug Frasure).

Miami is one of the cities that has a breed ban – which involves so much more than I ever realized.

I believe EVERYONE who sees this film will be impacted, whether you love the breed, love animals in general or have any concern about the way the media can, at times, manipulate information and control what we see (and therefore affect our opinions, etc. about many issues). I hope you can make it!

There’s still time to get tickets by going to the Beyond the Myth web-site ( www.beyondthemythmovie.com ), right to Ticketmaster and they will be available at the door right before the film. General admission tickets are available for $20.00 and VIP tickets which include special seating, goody bag bag, wine reception in the Colony Theater Lobby starting at 7:00 (before the film) and access to the after party at Bellini with free hors d’ oeuvres and drink specials are $65.00. This will also give people who wish to the chance to visit with the filmmaker in a more relaxed environment!

There will be more premieres across the country and I will be at as many as I can. I hope to see you at a premiere soon!

Updates & Thanks!!

Getting closer to completion of my project “Comin’ On Strong”! All songs are recorded and final mixes and mastering need to be completed. I’m planning an unofficial poll to ask my fans and friends to help pick my artwork.

I’m really grateful for the support I’m receiving from so many of you who believe in my music, have been moved, inspired or made to smile. Those are the greatest compliments I could receive.

A HUGE thanks for the recent endorsement and generosity of McPherson Guitars. It’s an incredible honor to be in the company of some amazing guitarists (including my brother and session guitarist David Cleveland). Check out www.mcphersonguitars.com and see what’s so wonderful about these instruments and works of art!

Changes

Hi Everyone! I’m recording the new song “Strong for You” written by me and Doug Frasure for the documentary “Beyond the Myth”. I’m really excited about sharing it with everyone.

This means I am re-scheduling my date on WFIV in Knoxville April 7th. This date just worked out better for the other musicians participating in the recording and Joe at WFIV in Knoxville was, ofcourse, very understanding!
Please check out “Beyond the Myth” on Facebook!

Timing Is Everything

Four times today this phrase came up…seemingly out of nowhere. While the CD project is moving at a different speed than I anticipated, I do believe the timing will be just right and will make perfect sense. In the meantime, I hope you’ll catch one of my shows or listen on-line. I’m playing a benefit March 27th…for several Knoxville area animal charities. Visit www.causeforpawsknoxville.com . On April 7th @ 8PM I’ll be performing a live radio show for www.myi105.com/
That’s WFIV’s show “Homegrown”. The show will actually be performed on stage at Disc Makers.
I’ve had a wonderful time in Virginia and appreciate everyone so much who came out to my shows and made them really special for me. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Knoxville, playing and doing something to help animals in the area who are in need – along with supporting the PEOPLE who help animals! See You Soon!

Movie News – Well, it IS Oscar Time…

At the wrap party for "Love Don't Let Me Down"

At the wrap party for “Love Don’t Let Me Down” with Gwynth Paltrow
Recently, I was cast as one of the lead roles in a small independent musical drama. I’ve NEVER acted in my life. I’ve been in front of a camera for commercials, videos and while hosting a cable show for a short time - but I have NO acting experience. However…

…thankfully, my character is an artist trying to make a name in the music industry! Many of my original songs will be featured in the film. I won’t say much more for now…tell you why in a sec!!

The documentary “Beyond the Myth” by Libby Sherrill  http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=58167521513&ref=ts   about breed specific legislation is  moving right along. Doug Frasure and I have written a song for the film, a sort of anthem called “Strong for You“.

Animals cannot speak up or defend themselves against cruelty and injustice (like many people, they suffer due to uninformed, preconceptions based on color, features, religion…”differences”, etc).

Buddy08

Many are unfairly portrayed in an often twisted media message -This song is about defending them and will be available sometime in May to help sponsor the movie.

Back to why I don’t want to say much about the musical: If you’ve followed me for the past year or so then you know I was the flagship artist for a TV show pilot called “Songwriters USA” (a sort of American Idol for writers).

Mentoring Session with Jewel

I was mentored by Jewel, followed with cameras, interviewed at length, friends were interviewed. I loved Miranda Cohen – FOX Entertainment Reporter at the time of filming and hired as part of the show (now with StorySource). She was awesome.

The whole experience was a BLAST!!! But, I‘ve been answering questions for a while about “whatever happened with that TV thing”, and wondered if I said too much too soon(?)

I don’t believe I can “jinx” things – I’m just walking that line  between sharing exciting news while knowing that not EVERY opportunity turns into a Grammy…or an Oscar.

I am shopping for a dress to wear to my first Red Carpet event though.

So, I am not in a movie with Gwynth Paltrow but my sweetie, Doug Frasure has been cast as her drummer in the new movie “Love Don’t Let me Down”!
